Liverpool’s off-field news led the day after the club announced that Jeff Bezos is part of a consortium which has bought a 30 percent stake, valuing Liverpool at £5.5bn. On the pitch, Liverpool continue to be tied to Bradley Barcola, though the latest updates point more to shifting valuations and expectations than any imminent agreement.

Inter were busy in both the market and on the field. The Serie A side completed the signing of Djed Spence from Tottenham in a deal worth €35m including add-ons, with the England full-back signing through June 2031. Inter then beat Real Betis 1-0 in a friendly, where John Stones marked his debut with the winner only minutes after coming on. Roma, by contrast, let a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund after Paulo Dybala and Bryan Cristante had put them in control. Nahuel Molina also made his debut.

A handful of notable transfers were completed elsewhere. West Ham signed Celtic midfielder Arne Engels for £22m, a fee described as a new EFL record. Sunderland agreed a £25.6m move with Toulouse for left-back Dayann Methalie, while Paris Saint-Germain finalized the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona for about £43m. Juventus also reached an agreement with Bologna for defender Jhon Lucumi in a €22m deal.

Manchester United closed pre-season with a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Poland, though Marcus Rashford did return to action. Milan recovered after an early setback and scored through Goncalo Ramos, Samuel Chukwueze, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alphadjo Cisse.
