De Zerbi has nightmare Tottenham debut with first defeat

Carlo Ancelotti has officially extended his contract as Brazil manager until the 2030 World Cup.

France have named a 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, with Kylian Mbappe and Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele leading the attack. Didier Deschamps’ squad also includes four Serie A players: Mike Maignan, Adrien Rabiot, Manu Koné and Marcus Thuram. New Zealand have also announced their World Cup squad, with defender Tommy Smith and striker Chris Wood included. Iran are still waiting on visas for the tournament, with federation president Mehdi Taj saying players have not been issued visas less than a month before the World Cup starts.

In Italy, Inter beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final to complete the double. Lazio’s defeat means the club will miss Europe for a second straight season for the first time in 34 years. Serie A has confirmed that Week 37 fixtures will all be played on Sunday, May 17, with Roma-Lazio, Como-Parma, Genoa-Milan, Juventus-Fiorentina and Pisa-Napoli all kicking off at 12:00 local time. The FIGC presidential election on June 22 will be contested by Giancarlo Abete and Giovanni Malagò.

At Manchester United, Michael Carrick is close to being formally appointed permanent manager and is among the nominees for the Premier League Manager of the Season award. United are also pushing for two midfield signings valued at a combined £132 million.

Manchester City’s Under-18s beat Manchester United 2-1 to win the FA Youth Cup for a fifth time, with Reigan Heskey scoring the late winner.
