Spain became the first team into the 2026 World Cup final after a 2-0 win over France, keeping alive the prospect of a Euro 2024 rematch with England. England meet Argentina in the other semifinal for the right to face Spain in the title match.

France’s night was made worse by an early injury to William Saliba, who had to go off soon after kickoff. Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot started for France, while Manu Koné was named among the substitutes, but Spain controlled the bigger story by securing its place in the final.

Away from the tournament, Manchester United confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million. Mason Greenwood also completed a move from Marseille to Fenerbahce in a deal worth €39 million plus bonuses, one of the bigger completed transfers of the window so far.

Leeds United agreed a €40 million deal for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic, the second biggest transfer in the club’s history. Half of the fee will go to Juventus. Lazio, meanwhile, confirmed the free signing of Danilho Doekhi after the defender’s Union Berlin contract expired, with the Dutch center back agreeing terms through June 2029.
