Manchester City remain under the spotlight after being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations. Head coach Enzo Maresca said he has spoken with senior figures at the club and indicated he would stay even if City were relegated to League One, though he added he would rather speak in more detail after the appeal process. Before Sunday’s game at Liverpool, Erling Haaland urged supporters to stick together, enjoy the ride and smile. Jose Mourinho, speaking with typical dry humor, said he hopes he is still alive when City’s final punishment arrives.
At Arsenal, Martin Odegaard said a defeat to City with five games left helped drive the team to the Premier League title last season. There was more talk around a possible move for a striker, but no deal was completed. Youngster Max Dowman, meanwhile, picked up three Guinness World Records for teenage achievements in the Premier League and Champions League.
Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri offered an encouraging update on Scott McTominay, confirming the midfielder can play 20-30 minutes against Frosinone after a heart procedure and will be in the matchday squad. Napoli are still managing several other injuries before that Serie A fixture.
One confirmed move did go through in Italy, with Bologna signing former Inter and Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian on a free transfer after a trial. Away from the pitch, the Friedkin Group said it is exploring new investment options for Everton, including the possible sale of a minority stake.
