کامران نجف زاده خبرنگار و سفیر طلایی کودکان و سالمندان یونیسف از کارلوس کیروش خواست علی کریمی را هم به دلایل فنی و هم به خاطر شاخصهای اخلاقی و خیرخواهانه به تیم ملی دعوت کند.
از طرفی دیگر علی کریمی سفیر کودکان است و در تمام این سالها پیدا و پنهان برای آنهایی که نیازمندند کم نگذاشته و گاهی با کمک مالی یا حداقل تنها با یک عکس یادگاری دلی را شاد کرده. کریمی از آنهایی است که پتانسیل این را دارند که از یک سرمایه ورزشی به یک سرمایه نمادین تبدیل شوند که به کارهای خیرخواهانهشان دامنه بیشتری بدهد.
مثلا دومینیکا ملینکویاکا پسر ۱۱ ساله که با سرطان دست و پنجه نرم میکند به دلیل ورشکستگی خانوادهاش قادر به تامین هزینه های درمان سرطان نبود به همین منظور ابتدا هواداران تیم لچ پوزنان سعی در جمع آوری کمکهای مردمی برای دومینیکا کردند اما بلاژیکوفسکی بازیکن دورتموند خیال همه را راحت کرد و با پرداخت شصت هزار یورو کلیه هزینههای درمان را متقبل شد.

Fiorentina also suffered an injury concern when Robin Gosens went off after 11 minutes with a muscular problem.
