Manchester City are preparing for life after Pep Guardiola, who is set to leave at the end of the season after 10 years and 17 major trophies. City completed the domestic double, and his final match is due to come against Aston Villa. Enzo Maresca has already reached an agreement in principle to take over before next season.

Chelsea have turned to Xabi Alonso, appointing him on a four-year contract. Inter, fresh from winning Serie A, continued planning for the future as coach Cristian Chivu met directors over a contract extension through 2029. President Beppe Marotta praised Chivu and the players after securing his first Scudetto as club president.

Arsenal moved to the brink of the Premier League title with a 1-0 win over already relegated Burnley at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta said his side produced some of their best football of the season. Arsenal are now one game away from a first league crown in 22 years and will watch Bournemouth’s meeting with Manchester City next. Burnley’s drop is confirmed.

Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest, though the referees’ body later admitted United’s second goal should have been ruled out for handball. Bruno Fernandes matched the Premier League assist record in that victory.

On the international front, Brazil included Neymar in Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man World Cup squad, with the coach saying the forward’s physical condition has improved and that he will carry the same responsibilities as the rest of the group. Gleison Bremer and Wesley were included as well. Scotland called up Ross Stewart and Findlay Curtis but left out Lennon Miller. Spain midfielder Fermin Lopez is expected to miss the World Cup with a foot fracture, while Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman said the outlook is not good for Jurrien Timber. Croatia included Luka Modric and expect him to recover from a fractured cheekbone in time.
