Manchester City ended the domestic campaign with silverware, beating Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley to complete a domestic cup double. Antoine Semenyo scored the winner. After the match, Pep Guardiola paid tribute to departing players Bernardo Silva and John Stones. Stones said it had been a difficult season for him and called the trophy a nice send-off.

Chelsea are moving toward a major change on the bench. The club is in advanced talks to appoint Xabi Alonso as its next permanent head coach, and plans are in place to announce him before the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur. Alonso has agreed to terms in principle after a compromise on transfers.

At Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski will leave at the end of the season when his contract expires. In Scotland, Celtic won the Scottish Premiership for the fifth season in a row after catching Hearts in the closing stages of the title race. Hearts said a menacing and threatening atmosphere inside Celtic Park forced them to leave immediately after the final whistle.

Liverpool’s season remains in focus after Mohamed Salah said the team must return to being a heavy metal attacking side that opponents fear following a trophyless campaign. He also called on Liverpool to recover their identity after the 4-2 defeat at Aston Villa. Liverpool have decided not to sack Arne Slot. Manchester United have reached an agreement with Michael Carrick to become the club’s permanent head coach. Casemiro is set to play his last game for United at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest. In Germany, Harry Kane scored his fourth hat-trick of the season as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich thrashed Cologne in their final league match.
