احمد دنیامالی، وزیر ورزش جمهوری اسلامی در اظهارات جدیدی، اعلام کرد سفیر جمهوری اسلامی در مکزیک پیگیر انتقال بازیهای تیم ملی فوتبال ایران در جام جهانی ۲۰۲۶ از آمریکا به مکزیک است: «ما حاضریم در مکزیک بازی کنیم، اما چون قرعهکشی انجام شده، به نظر میآید چنین کاری، امکانپذیر نیست.»
این اظهارات درحالی است که او دو روز پیش با اشاره به کشته شدن علی خامنهای در حملات اسرائیل و آمریکا گفت: «شرایط حضور در جام جهانی فوتبال را نداریم.»
مهدی تاج، رییس فدراسیون فوتبال، هم با تایید تلویحی چنین تصمیمی، گفته بود: «با دورنمای فعلی، هیچ عقل سلیمی نمیپذیرد که تیم ملی به آمریکا اعزام شود.»
اما شب گذشته، در چرخشی آشکار، فدراسیون فوتبال و امیر قلعهنویی، سرمربی تیم ملی در یک استوری اینستاگرامی مدعی شدند آمریکا توانایی تامین امنیت تیمها در جام جهانی ۲۰۲۶ را ندارد و خواستار حذف میزبان از جام جهانی شد: «هیچکس نمیتواند تیم ملی را از جام جهانی کنار بگذارد. کشوری باید کنار گذاشته شود که فقط عنوان «میزبان» را یدک میکشد اما توانایی تامین امنیت تیمهای حاضر را ندارد.»
به نظر میرسد این استوری در واکنش به اظهارات دونالد ترامپ، رییسجمهوری آمریکا، منتشر شد. او روز پنجشنبه در تروتسوشال نوشت: «تیم ملی فوتبال ایران برای حضور در جام جهانی مورد استقبال قرار میگیرد، اما واقعا معتقد نیستم حضور آنها در آنجا مناسب باشد، برای جان و امنیت خودشان.»
